It is the common experience of stress that brings many students to yoga. Stress, left unchecked, can contribute to a number of health issues and can interfere with quality of life. Restorative yoga is like a balm to the nervous system. Restorative yoga, developed by BKS Iyengar uses various props to support the body for relief of stress and healing of the body and mind. The props are used to create comfort and invite a deep state of relaxation. The poses are held from five to twenty minutes, to allow time for the body and mind to rest. I will be teaching a special Winter Restorative Workshop on December 30 from 1-3pm or 5-7pm.
