There have been many beautiful, eloquent remembrances of Guruji in the past weeks since his death. I felt like I knew him, even though I had never met him. I studied his method, his books and all of my teachers had studied directly with him. I feel the loss of this great man who was bigger than life. More than that I feel a tremendous gratitude for his life’s work. His eternal love for yoga was unmatched.
BKS Iyengar said in his book Light on Life, “Yoga allows you to rediscover a sense of wholeness in your life, where you do not feel like you are constantly trying to fit the broken pieces together. Yoga allows you to find an inner peace that is not ruffled and riled by the endless stresses and struggles of life.” Yoga has certainly given me a freedom in body and mind that I did not think was possible when I began practicing twenty five years ago.
I will continue on to practice, teach and to do my best to honor the Iyengar tradition of yoga that I love. My intention with this blog is to share more of the practice, philosophy of yoga and what I have learned so far through my own study, setbacks and recoveries.
